Abstruct Consulting Ltd provided structural engineering assessment and design for the installation of a new digital advertising sign at Lakeside Shopping Centre near the entrance to Debenhams. The new digital sign was formed of a series of LED tiles supported on a frame of PFC sections which in turn were hung from a large RHS beam spanning between PFC hangers bolted to the existing hip rafters. The new and existing structure were assessed for the effects of the weight of the sign and supporting structural steelwork and the lateral internal pressures applied to the screen.
