Abstruct provided Structural and Civil engineering design services to Guildford Cricket Club, Guildford Borough Council and Surrey Cricket club for the extension and refurbishment of the existing 1930’s-built cricket club building, working alongside project manager Artelia Ltd and Architects Rolfe Judd. The proposals included the construction of a new pitch side extension 2 storeys in height with a small portion of second floor to house a private members bar and roof terrace. The new portion of the building was of braced steel framed construction with timber floors and roof, all tied into the existing building and incorporating a new viewing gallery. To the rear of the building there was a small single storey load-bearing masonry extension.  Internal masonry alterations required the installation of new steel picture frames to maintain the lateral stability of the building.
