ABSTRUCT provided full structural & civil design for the conversion of the existing grade II listed building to provide 27 apartments, following demolition of non-historic parts to the rear of the building, construction of 3 No. chalet bungalows, together with associated parking, access and landscaping.

A key challenge was to understand the various construction types used in the existing building which had been altered and extended over the years. Our work involved detailed structural investigations and structural advice to the client and design team to optimise the proposed apartment layouts whilst reducing structural interventions, cost and construction risks.

Documentation for structural alterations was prepared in REVIT to maximise coordination and clash detection.

Our civil engineering work involved assessment of the existing below ground drainage network for areas of possible re-use, design of new drainage including surface water attenuation measures for the site, as well as assessment of existing hard standings and new build ups to reduce construction waste.
