Abstruct Consulting provided full structural and civil engineering design services up to Tender design for this new hotel opposite the Oval Cricket ground. The hotel was designed as lightweight metal load bearing studwork down to first floor level with a piled concrete transfer structure at first and ground floor. The foundations to the building were complex due to the existing major structures on the site, including the Brixton Storm relief sewer and the new TFL Northern line extension tunnel, substantial bridging structures were required to maintain the exclusion zones to each of these structures.
